Our country’s embassy in the UK, with the help of the Scottish Chamber of Commerce in the city of Aberdeen, organized a roundtable on Uzbekistan’s investment and trade opportunities, a correspondent reports from the Dunyo news agency.
The round table brought together representatives of companies from the oil and gas industry, the renewable energy sector, logistics and agriculture.
Representatives of the Ministries of Energy, Investment and Foreign Trade, the Investment Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Uzbekneftegaz JSC, as well as the Khokimiyat of the Kashkadarya region also made presentations in line.
The British side was briefed on information about the ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan, the progressive nature of Uzbek-British interaction, the vast opportunities for increased investment and trade and economic ties. Investment opportunities in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries, the field of alternative energies, the priorities of the modernization of industries with the involvement of innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies were discussed in detail. Separately, the export potential of agricultural and textile products from the regions of Uzbekistan is presented.
The participants of the event spoke highly of the large-scale transformations in Uzbekistan, especially in the field of economic liberalization, development of foreign trade, and expressed their interest in establishing cooperation in these areas.
During the talks, priority steps were defined for the practical implementation of the proposals expressed and the agreements reached. In particular, representatives of a number of Scottish companies have expressed their intention to visit Uzbekistan in March to meet potential partners.
In addition, bilateral negotiations took place with representatives of the regional administration, the regional office of the UK Department for International Trade, the Chamber of Commerce, the Scottish Development Agency, a number of technology centers and businesses.
It should be noted that Scotland is the main center in the United Kingdom for the development and implementation of the latest technologies in the field of renewable energy sources, which provide a significant part of the needs of the region. Also developed are sectors of the economy such as fishing, chemicals, pulp and paper, food and shipbuilding.
